Mission Statement:

Lending a helping hand to our communities here and abroad

History:

The South King Firefighters Foundation (formerly Federal Way Firefighters Foundation) is a registered, non-profit, tax exempt association that engages in charitable and educational efforts in the Federal Way Community.

The Foundation was formed back in December of 1999 by a group of firefighters that felt they could do more to serve our community.  Jeff Hamel, Rick Chaney, Jeff Bellinghausen, Sven Schievink and Jon Morris sat down and drew up the bylaws that form the Foundation. They registered the Foundation to become a tax deductible 501 (c)(3) charitable association. Our membership is open to all active and retired employees of the Federal Way Fire Department, their families and any interested members of the Federal Way Community. All members who work on projects and serve on the Foundation are volunteers. There is no payroll being paid to any member.

Over the years, The Foundation supporters and projects have grown. The willingness of the members to give their time and money has been unbelievable.

The Foundation has grown to become an organization that works closely with the Federal Way Fire Department, Federal Way Firefighters Local 2024, and other civic organizations. With continued supports of our members and supporting businesses, we look forward to years of giving back to the community that has been so good to us.
