Established in 2008 by Jeff and Deborah Bellinghausen in memory of their daughter, Whitney.

Whitney was a loved and valued undergraduate student at Western Oregon University and a beloved American Sign Language family member at WOU. Whitney was in a devastating auto accident in 2008 on a rural road in Oregon, and after twenty days in the ICU, she passed away at the age of 20. After Whitney’s passing, her family and friends created the Whitney Bellinghausen Endowed Scholarship at Western Oregon University to honor her life and provide financial support to undergraduate students to attain the Degree in American Sign Language that Whitney was passionately pursuing.
